From 1991 to 2002, I made 7 trips travelling to California, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Romania, France, Denmark, Iceland and Morocco, photographing bathers in hot springs, bathhouses and spas.
The first two trips were in California where I made road trips from north to south staying at various hot spring retreats along the way.
In 1994 I spent 3 months in eastern Europe photographing the traditional bathhouses after experiencing the New Age retreats in California. This photograph was made in a steam room in Budapest.
